Weekend Roundup – “How a Gratitude List Will Save You Mega Bucks” Edition

You may be surprised to discover that a gratitude list can actually save you a ton of money.  That’s my experience anyway.

If you and I spend a few minutes each morning creating a quick gratitude list, we’ll see how truly wonderful and full our lives are. We’ll see how much we have. We don’t really need to obtain much more of what really matters. Sure, we all have areas we need to do better at.  But if I create a gratitude list, I’ll be less inclined to waste money trying to fill up those empty spaces that commercials and media artificially create for me.

Our gratitude list reminds us that our lives are pretty darn full…thank you very much.

Here are a few items on the list I made this morning:

I am grateful for G-d.

I am grateful that my family is healthy and happy.

I am grateful we have a home.

I am grateful I have wonderful friends.

I am grateful I get to work with really nice people.

I am grateful I haven’t “pulled an Elvis” on my television set.

What are you grateful for today?

Are you willing to take two minutes are write it down?  Are you grateful for your job?  If you are self-employed, are you grateful for being self-employed?

When you think about what’s on your list, does your appetite for “stuff” disappear?

Weekend Roundup:

Would you consider going off the grid with your entire family – kids included?  Here’s one story of a family who did.  Thanks, Frugal Dad.

Another take on the same theme is served up by Digerati Life.  Nice…

On a practical note, Moolanomy encourages us to tap those low mortgage rates.

The frugality of walking…obvious, but do you do it enough?  Here’s a good list of ideas on how to “find the time” to do something good for yourself.  Wisebread…thanks.

MoneyNing asks what you would change about the government. Have fun and share your thoughts.

Accept what is…yes…I like this one…

I’m not a drinking man, but you might be.  How to brew your own beer and save some money!  A tasty treat offered by Jeremy over at GenXFinance.

I love this article; I write a gratitude list, also, and find myself listing the same things everyday – I’m grateful to have one more day on this earth to be with my family; I’m grateful for my children and my health, for my home and my job. Basically, I am grateful for the very basic things in life. I know that alot of other people have it much worse than me, so I am truly grateful for what I have. When I start feeling down in the dumps, I look around me and remind myself that I have everything I need.

    Julie,

I am very very grateful for your response this morning. It was exactly what I needed to be reminded of myself.

    Thanks….
