You are right...these are very tough situations.  We don&#039;t/can&#039;t say no to everything but we do decline invitations to go out unless it is a very special event.

I think that the baby showers are tougher to get out of but the birthday dinners are a bit easier.....at least they would be for me.

My wife feels more obligated to go to these types of things so it&#039;s really a give and take.  Having said that, we are clear on the big picture so that makes smaller decisions a bit easier.</description>

I try to suggest ways to make the outing cheaper (eating lunch instead of dinner) and my friends aren&#039;t big spenders. But still, our budget is tight but I always feel obligated to go to this friend&#039;s birthday dinner or that friend&#039;s baby shower brunch.</description>
