Being a financial professional I too enjoy morningstar, i subscribe to their premium service, but for the average person just curious about their 401k options I can see why Yahoo! is a good choice. It is pretty easy to use and straight forward, it's even a little less intimidating for the lay-person just looking for a little extra info.

Great steps to take. The Internet makes research so much easier than just 10 years ago. But I think key to all thins is being prepared to make the long-term commitment - to set it and forget it, rather than fret and trade.

I actually prefer Morningstar.com when looking at performance numbers. Two things jump out at me for JSVAX, 1. it's a top performer in up years and a bottom performer in down years (could be scary or heart-wrenching) & 2. it's on it's third fund category in the last 10 years (style drift is tough to fit into an asset allocation)
