Having dealt with a small case of identity theft myself and having to fix the related credit errors, I have one more suggestion. Document every call, fax, and correspondence made. Note the date/time, number, call center agent, phone#, acct#, etc. in a file that you can easily access. This will save you hassles if you have to contact the same company more than once and will be proof of your actions! WP – Right on!

Having dealt with a small case of identity theft myself and having to fix the related credit errors, I have one more suggestion. Document every call, fax, and correspondence made. Note the date/time, number, call center agent, phone#, acct#, etc. in a file that you can easily access.

This will save you hassles if you have to contact the same company more than once and will be proof of your actions!
